Our corporate social responsibility

Our corporate social responsibility

We don’t believe in only measuring success by financial status; we measure success by our effect on local communities, our employees, and our environment.

We created a set of strategic objectives which will ensure that we become the best version of ourselves for our customers, our supply chain, our environment, the communities where we work and the people who work here and support us.

Our strategic objectives support and facilitate our social value targets:

Green travel

We use green travel solutions including electric company cars and carbon neutral couriers.

Minimising our carbon footprint

We will be carbon neutral before 2040 and will reduce our carbon emissions by 55% by 2030.

Sustainable procurement, sustainable waste

Timber materials used in our manufacturing are FSC or similarly certified, ensuring they come from well-managed forests. We also adhere to a 0% waste to landfill standard.

Charitable support

We support local charity projects through volunteering and resource donations. We donate a percentage of profits from jobs in the local community to local charities.

Leaving a legacy

In 2022, we created a Legacy Pledge to give back to Stockport, our home for 57 years, by boosting local employment and offering learning and training opportunities.

Reducing social isolation

Our site-based employees are trained as the ‘eyes and ears’ on the ground and are confident to engage with residents and identify and report signs of social isolation.

Higher education opportunities

We offer apprenticeship and internship opportunities for those eager to expand their practical knowledge of the industry.

Graduate opportunities

We offer entry-level and trainee roles to new graduates to support their career development. We have sponsored three employees’ Quantity Surveying degrees, all of whom continue to work with us.

Sustainable employment

All employees receive the national living wage as a minimum, except our apprentices who receive full training contributions.

Unwavering high ethical, human rights and labour standards

Our strict policy prohibits employees, contractors, and supply chain members from engaging in forced labour, slavery, or human trafficking. Violations will result in immediate contract termination and reporting to authorities.

Bluebell Woods Project

The Bluebell Woods Project was launched 40 years ago by a founding member of RW Joinery, to provide the Greater Manchester community with a welcoming and enjoyable space for residents and families.
